Composer David Bergeaud visited New Mexico to get an idea of the scenery
that would be used in the series, and he did a wonderful job capturing
that beauty in the musical score. The recordings for the pilot, "First
Contact," were done using a full orchestra, but in later episodes
it was David himself playing all of the instruments used. He utilized
many uncommon instruments from other countries, like Australia, and
his music reflects this influence.
Although an Earth 2 soundtrack was never publicly released,
there was a limited run of CDs created from the "First Contact"
recordings. These original CDs are silver with the show's logo on the
front, and the cover insert has a front and back side. There have been
bootlegged versions of the CD floating around and they pop up at conventions
and on eBay every now and again. Although it is the same sound quality
in the music, these bootleg copies are cheap CD-Rs and the insert is
only one-sided. If you are interested in hearing this beautiful music,
please head over to The Journey Continues web site where an online version
of the music is availiable for download: http://www.msu.edu/user/thursamr/soundtrack.html
